BREED: Great Dane
AGE: 3 Years Old
It’s heartbreaking that humans can give up on dogs when they seem to need us the most.
Meet the Dwayne, That’s Mr. Dwayne The Rock Johnson. This handsome 135 pound hunk is a 3 year old Great Dane. He started showing symptoms of having problems with walking about a year ago – but nothing was ever done about it by his previous owners. For the past few months his condition declined rapidly, and had become extremely difficult to manage for his owner who works full time and cares for her ill mom. Dwayne was left alone alone for 12-14 hours at a time. We can only imagine how heartbroken he must’ve felt, in pain, in need, and alone.
When we first met Dwayne he was practically imobile, and plopped down on all fours. We had to cary all 135 pound of him up a flight of stairs, and stimulate his joints to get him to walk out onto the patio to do his business. Since earlier this week Dwayne settled into his foster home with mom Sarah and has already been an absolute joy. He is perfect in the home — affectionate, loves to be pet, is excellent with children, other dogs and cats.
Dwayne was never vetted but did have an eval by a mobile vet prior to us taking him in. He suffers from an undiagnosed neurological condition & the proposed diagnosis is Wobblers Syndrome which is a malformation of the cervical vertebrae that causes an unsteady gait and weakness in dogs. While this is a possible diagnosis, it can also be MANY other things. Dwayne is scheduled to see Dr. Chad West, head of Neurology at The Animal Medical Center on July 21st, the cost for one visit, which includes testing, X-Rays, MRI and blood work will run us about $4,000 just to get to the root of the problem.
WE HAVE FIVE DAYS TO RAISE THE FUNDS NEEDED FOR DWAYNE’S INITIAL APPOINTMENT. CAN YOU HELP US HELP HIM?

Dwayne has an incredible spirit and such a heartwarming personality, we are honored to be part of his rescue journey and are hopeful for the bright future we can give this special dog.
